Why do you do this?
I made this website to be different. Would you rather see snapshots from last summer's vacation, or photographs of beautiful eyes? Okay, so if you want to see photographs of beautiful eyes, would you rather see something that looked like an add for Maybeline, or something a bit more esoteric? |
Why don't you photograph
more than just the eyes?
Actually, I do. The originals are usually full-face or half-body shots, but I only scan in the eyes for this website. This is a website about eyes, it's not a kinky women-in-gas-masks website. |
Actually, I was looking
for a kinky women-in-gas-masks website. Can you help me?
No. Go somewhere else. Maybe I need to have words with your mother. |
How do you convince a
woman to wear a gas mask and let you photograph her?
It's easy. You just have to ask. |
Do your photographs ever
come out lousy?
Are you kidding? I took almost 200 photographs just to get the 8 that are in the first gallery. If you try this at home, I suggest taking at least one full roll (36 exposures) of photographs with each woman who's willing to model for you. |
Seriously, how do I do
this at home?
Aside from the obvious necessities (a camera, a gas mask, and a model), the only thing you'll have to worry about is lighting. In general, the little flash that plugs into the top of your camera is going to make the photograph look flat and washed out. If you don't have studio lighting equipment (such as a high-powered flash and an umbrella reflector), I strongly suggest learning to use natural light. I've taken all sorts of photography classes (everything from nudes to dinner arrangements), and I can tell you there are really only two viable options. First, shoot about ten or fifteen minutes before sunset, and have the model face into the setting sun. It shouldn't bother her eyes, and if you're using color film, the gold cast will look great. The second option is to have her stand in a doorway or alleyway (or in front of a window) facing outside. Make sure the she is not standing in direct sunlight. The doorway or window will channel the light just like a studio flash, but you'll probably need at least 400 ASA film with this method. |
Can you tell me more
about the women in photographs?
Forget it. This isn't an on-line dating service. |
Are you going to add
any new photos?
Yes. I'm just getting started again after a nine-year hiatus. Expect to see more photos, sharper images, better printing (I'll send them to the lab instead of printing them myself), and maybe color instead of black-and-white. |
